Picture yourself at the New Selkirk Waterfront Market

Lorraine Fredette rediscovered her love of painting following her retirement, and her decision to offer her works for sale to others was easy – she simply had too many at home and needed to sell some.

She’s been offering her acrylic paintings for sale at the Lockport Market for five years, and is now happily offering her paintings, prints and other items on Wednesdays at the New Selkirk Waterfront Farmer’s Market, which runs in conjunction with the City of Selkirk’s D.O.G Days of Summer, presented by the Selkirk Record, City of Selkirk and sponsored by Sunova.

Fredette painted as a child, gave it up when “life got in the way”, she laughed, and then picked up her brush when she found she had more time. It’s something she enjoys very much.

“I like to experiment and try different things. I really like a lot of bright colours,” Fredette said.

Besides originals and prints, Fredette has all-occasion cards that feature her work, mini-easels that make great gifts and light switch plates. She takes offers, she said, and accepts credit cards.

D.O.G Days of Summer, which features food vendors and entertainment, runs every Wednesday in August at the Selkirk Waterfront from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The New Selkirk Waterfront Market, which will feature approximately 30 vendors, runs Wednesdays in August from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., also at the Waterfront.
