Please be advised that a private fireworks display has been approved by City of Selkirk under the provisions of the City of Selkirk’s Regulation and Prevention of Noise By-Law, and will occur on November 1, 2024.
The approval was granted by resolution of Council which provided permission subject to a number of conditions to promote safety and neighbourhood acceptance.
In order to proceed with the event, the following conditions had to have been met:
- A copy of $2,000,000 liability insurance coverage.
- The event including fireworks must be housed on private property.
- Written support from most residents on the affected blocks.
Setting off fireworks within the City of Selkirk is prohibited as per By-Law 4683 (clause 3.2i ) unless otherwise approved by Council (clause 4.9). Conditions to approve such an event may vary for each request depending on circumstances.
We understand that this event may garner significant public interest, and we assure you that the necessary steps are being taken to facilitate this event in compliance with our By-Laws.
