St. Andrews Youth Baseball and Selkirk Baseball have joined forces to become the St. Andrews/ Selkirk Mariners Minor Baseball Program.
The St. Andrews/Selkirk Minor Baseball Program is a co-ed program that is open to boys and girls, ages 4 – 18. The program strives to provide a fun environment where kids of all ages can focus on skill development, teamwork and game play. As the age groups progress, more emphasis is placed on the development of individual skills, competitive play and good sportsmanship. We are a part of the North Winnipeg Minor Baseball Association (NWMBA) and teams at all age levels will be required to travel to Winnipeg for away games. Home games may be played at St. Andrews School, Lockport Junior High School or the Selkirk Rec Complex.

Selkirk & Area Youth Basketball is a community club basketball organization dedicated to creating introductory, recreational, fair play and competitive basketball experiences for youth from the Selkirk, St. Clements and St. Andrews area. We are a non-profit club and host several teams per year in both Fall/Winter and Spring league sessions. We also partner with the Lord Selkirk Royals High School program to offer Royals basketball camp for girls in late August at the high school, and help set up some competitive teams for the Rising Stars leagues to compete in Winnipeg. The Selkirk Steelers Junior A Hockey Club Inc., a not-for-profit organization, has operated in Selkirk since 1966. The Steelers compete in the 11-team Manitoba Junior Hockey League. The team plays a 60-game schedule with 29 home, 29 away and 2 at the MJHL Showcase. During its storied history, the Steelers have won many championships including league, regional and national titles. Many former players have gone on to play in the NHL, Semi-Professional leagues and both US and Canadian College ranks. The Steelers focus on recruiting locally available talent and in addition, recruit top-level players from all over North America.

Our purpose is to foster good citizenship and maintain the Icelandic language and heritage among those of Icelandic origin and others who would like to join us. A “First Day of Summer” Concert is held every April, with entertainment and ethnic food. The club offers bursaries to students from the LS Regional Comprehensive School who are of Icelandic descent and are furthering their studies. Heritage Calendars are available yearly. The “Bruin” Chapter meets monthly from September to June. The “Bruin” Chapter is one of the oldest I.N.L. Chapters in Canada. Anyone interested may join even if you are not Icelandic!

Judo (Japanese for “Gentle Way”) is a great way to get fit and gain self-confidence while learning the techniques of this Olympic sport. Judo develops self-discipline and respect for oneself and others and is practiced by millions around the world. The Selkirk Judo Club is a member club of Judo Manitoba, a provincial sports organization with Sport Manitoba. Membership is open to boys and girls ages 12 and up. Members learn in–depth Hunter Safety during the 7-month program developing safe and proper firearm handling techniques and acquiring shooting skills. Tentative members are asked to complete the Hunter Education online offered by the Manitoba Wildlife Federation. This will give the students some background knowledge before commencing. Members have the opportunity to compete at club levels as well as the Annual Provincials. Shooting and Safety classes are held at the shooting range located at the Winnipeg Pistol and Revolver Club located on Miller Rd. off Hwy #8. Registration is in October/November with shooting starting mid-November. Volunteers are needed to assist with coaching.

3. Future Stars: an intro to StarSkate & competing for those who show an aptitude for figure skating.
4. Edges, Skills, Agility: teaches extreme balance routines, improves overall conditioning
5. STARSkate: STAR 1-5 program where figure skating begins! Introduces components of performance, assessment & competition. Emphasizes skills; turns, stroking, jumps and spins. In groups or private lessons.
6. Special Olympics: focuses on the individuality of each athlete.

Speed Skating is Canada’s #1 Olympic winter sport! Our program is designed to accommodate competitive as well as recreational/fitness skaters. The program is open to skaters age 5 and up (including adults), and is popular with families as both parents and kids can be on the ice at the same time under the direction of NCCP certified coach- es. Our season runs from mid-September until the end of March, with 6+ Manitoba Speed Skating Association competitions available including one hosted by our club on “Home Ice” at the Selkirk Recreation Complex. Registration is early September, but we can accommodate new members at any time throughout the Season. Speed Skates are available through our Rental Program.
