Manitoba Ave. East welcomes #SELKIRKwhiteout #2 this Friday!
Selkirk’s historic Manitoba Ave. will see white for the second time this Friday night during the Jets fourth game of the third series against the Vegas Golden Knights.
Manitoba Ave. East will be closed to vehicle traffic between 12:30 & Midnight to allow for a street party which will feature live entertainment, a kids zone, food vendors (yes there will be mini donuts), and a big screen that will air the game that starts at 7pm.
The party, which begins at 5pm (rain or shine) will welcome Jets fans from near and far and will kick off with live entertainment followed by additional entertainment throughout the evening during intermissions.
“Selkirk’s vision in revitalizing the downtown commercial core has been turning into a reality”, said City of Selkirk Chief Administration Officer Duane Nicol. “We see events like this and the popular Holiday Alley that took place in December of 2017 as an opportunity to have Manitoba-Ave-East seen as a vibrant place for recreation, commerce and community building.”
“We wanted to continue to offer a similar experience to what was happening in Winnipeg. Our pilot project was successful and our sponsors have been amazing making it possible to host another event!” Said Vanessa Figus, the City’s Marketing & Communications Coordinator.
Selkirk Transit will once again be extending their services between 5pm-11pm to run every half hour and is also offering a park and ride from Canadian Tire located at the west end of Manitoba.
Food vendors will be on site, the Selkirk Motor Inn (Roxi’s) and Selkirk Tavern (Merch) will be open for business and will be serving food and drink within their premises and on their patios.
