The city is continuing to follow the mitigation strategy to manage water levels. At this time the risk of a flood is still low and has not yet approached the already built dykes.
Last night, the Selkirk bridge closed due to water levels reaching the highway on the East side in St. Clements. The bridge will remain closed until further notice.
Today we will be filling in the dyke on Dufferin Ave. north of the Kiwanis Centre. This will be completed within several hours. The only dyke remaining to be filled is the one at the Waterfront behind the Gordon Howard Centre. We will be holding off on filling this until necessary as to not close off parking to the parking lot used to accommodate the Gordon Howard Centre.
We would like to remind Citizens to avoid the river banks and to not approach the waters’ edge as the water is moving fast and is very cold.
