Selkirk Park will be temporarily closed to the public for precautionary reasons due to rising water levels.
Staff have been monitoring an ice jam north of Selkirk at Sugar Island most of the day Friday. Water levels have risen to the base of the temporary dike installed at the Selkirk park boat launch. As a precautionary measure, the City is closing the park to reduce any potential risk to park visitors. At this time, there is no part of Selkirk park open to the public. Please do not enter the park by vehicle or on foot.
We ask everyone to please stay away from riverbanks, Selkirk Park, and the Waterfront. Please do not cross city barricades.
We will be monitoring the situation as it progresses.
