During the week of June 15 – 19, traffic down Manitoba Avenue West will experience a slight detour so crews can continue with construction.
Over the past few weeks construction crews have been working down Manitoba Avenue West installing a new trunk main line that will connect our sewer system to future developments on the west side of Selkirk. This main will also take pressure off our current system.
During the installation, crews found a very large rock underneath the roadway where the trunk main line will run through. After exhausting all other options, crews are left with no other choice other than to remove the rock.
This is a roadblock that would have been very difficult to notice beforehand, and crews are working hard to make sure the detour doesn’t last longer than the one week time period.
