Please be advised that due to an ongoing gopher hole problem on the athletic fields at the Rec Complex, the city has hired Poulin’s Pest Control to begin eradication efforts starting Thursday, June 6. The local Conservation District has been contacted and they are in support of this decision.
The safety of individuals enjoying our recreation fields is important, and the presence of gopher holes poses a risk to those using the field, and can cause permanent damage to the grounds.
The pesticide being used is called Rozol Field and it is applied directly into the holes. It is safe for adults and children; however, it can be poisonous to wildlife and pets. A couple of days after the pesticide is applied, the holes can be filled with soil.
The pest control process takes, on average, two weeks, but can take longer. We ask that as long as the signs are up, please keep your pets off of the grounds, and in instances where that is not possible, please keep them on a leash away from the holes.
If you have any questions or concerns related to this method of eradicating gophers, please contact the local Conservation District at 204-785-5080. For any other questions or concerns, please contact CitizenSupport at 204-785-4900.
