Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure will start their road repaving work – called a mill and fill – on Manitoba Avenue from Main Street to Easton Drive, Easton Drive and PTH 9A at PTH 4 this week. A mill and fill is the removal of a layer of asphalt and replacing it with a new layer. Milling will take a couple of days and paving is anticipated to start next week.
Manitoba Avenue: During paving operations, side roads will be closed one at a time until the paver is past and the asphalt is cool enough to allow traffic across. Flaggers will be on site to help control traffic at signaled intersections.
Easton Drive: Flag persons will implement 2-way alternating traffic. The right turning lane from Easton onto Manitoba will be temporarily closed while paving is in progress. Vehicles will make the right-hand turn at the lights. Cross-roads will be temporarily closed while paving is in progress until it has cooled enough to allow for traffic. Major intersections will be controlled by flag people. NO WORK WILL BE DONE ON EASTON DRIVE ON THURSDAY JUNE 27TH DUE TO GRAD CELEBRATIONS.
PTH 9A at PTH 4: Flag people will be stationed at all four corners of the intersection to allow for safe passage of traffic through the work zone and attempt to work in conjunction with traffic lights to minimize the disruption of traffic flow.
