Main Street Reconstruction Project: as part of the Main Street project, we are twinning the force main that runs along Main Street. We are requesting all residents to please reduce water consumption as much possible on Tuesday, July 30th starting at 7:00 p.m. until Wednesday, July 31st at 7:00 a.m.
Please note the following:
We have been notified by our contractors working on the project that they are ready to tie-in to the new force main.
In order to complete this work effectively, we need a minimal flow of water.
We are completing this work overnight to reduce the impact on citizens as much as possible.
We are working with large water users (like industry/businesses) to reduce their consumption as well.
The work is happening at Main Street and Taylor Avenue and it is weather-dependent. Please avoid the area if possible.
The force main that runs along Main Street is a critical piece of infrastructure carrying 90% of the city’s sewage to the Wastewater Treatment Plant. To enhance this system and to prevent failure, a new secondary pipe is being installed along Main Street to enable switching between the old and new pipes. This work will allow the city to perform future upgrades to the existing pipe to enhance durability and avoid pipe failure and mass sewage leaks.
