Culture Days

Take part in Canada’s largest public participation campaign for the arts! Culture Days occurs annually in September. Millions attend free arts and culture events across the country, highlighting their importance. Culture Days programs encourage public participation, showcasing arts and culture’s significance in communities. These efforts culminate with the Culture Days weekend, annually taking place over the last weekend of each September. In 2024 Culture Days celebrations will happen September 20th-October 13th. Please join us!

Under the Stars: Stories & Screen Event

Join us for a magical evening of storytelling and cinema at “Under the Stars: Stories & Screen”! Celebrate Culture Days with a night full of warmth and wonder. Join us around the campfire, where local storytellers create a “Human Library””, as they share captivating tales and personal stories. As you listen to the stories, enjoy cooking some traditional Bannock on a stick over the campfire. As the night unfolds, settle in for an outdoor movie screening of the family favorite movie Migration (beginning at 7:30 pm). Please bring a blanket or lawn chair for spectating the film. Storytelling and campfire side performances by Jane Burpee, Sleepy the Clown, local author Maureen Flynn and more! This event is free, however popcorn and concession items available for purchase. Don’t miss this chance to experience a blend of cultural storytelling and outdoor cinema. See you under the stars!

Time: 6:00-9:00 pm; 6:00-7:30 pm campfires and storytelling; 7:30 pm movie to begin (1 hr 25 min run time).

Rain location: Selkirk Recreation Complex Banquet Hall

Bussing pickup and drop off available.
