Charles Reid Painting Workshop

$40This workshop is designed to familiarize yourself with the painting techniques of Charles Reid. He is an internationally recognized watercolor painter. Participants will study his process and revitalize their own painting techniques. We will create still life paintings. I will supply the subject matter. We will end the day with a discussion of what you liked and did not like about his working style. Workshop take place at the Gwen Fox Art Gallery.

Cost: $40 per person (+ bring own supplies)
Material: I recommend using watercolor paints if possible. If you work in acrylics, transparent colors will work best. Minimum colors red, blue, yellow. Favorite brushes, masking fluid if you have it, a lightfast black market and a pencil and eraser. Also, something to cover the table and to wash your brushes in. A sketchbook in which you can do value sketches, or practice techniques suggested to you.
Workshop facilitator: Sharon spent two years studying Interior design at the University of Manitoba. She has also taken classes from Deborah Cardaci and attended many workshops over a period of 20 years. She has painted in Watercolour, Acrylic and Oil; and some collage. Over the past 20 years she has shown works in juried shows including the Manitoba Society of Artists, and the Winnipeg Sketch Club. She was also a member of the Medea Gallery and showed her work with them for several years. She has also been part of the Local Color Group and the Gwen Fox Gallery for many years.
The Areas of interest for Sharon Include Interpretative representation, Landscapes, Abstract form and relationships of form and colour.
She likes to work collaboratively with people from other backgrounds and interests. She believes that by sharing information we all grow in our art practices.
