We be Jammin’ at the Waterfront

What would a farmer’s market be without homemade jams? A lot less sweet, we dare to say, and Molly Smadylla is going to make sure the New Selkirk Waterfront Farmer’s Market has plenty of sweetness.

Smadylla and Molly’s Creations will be at the New Selkirk Waterfront Farmer’s Market this month, which runs Wednesdays in conjunction with the City of Selkirk’s D.O.G Days of Summer, presented by the Selkirk Record and sponsored by Sunova.

Molly’s Creations include jams, jellies, pickles – cucumbers and garlic – along with relishes and mustard pickles.

“You name it, I’ve got it,” the friendly Smadylla says.

And she’s even got sweetness in the form of diabetic jams and jellies.

Smadylla has been selling her goods at the Lockport Market for the last four years and is looking forward to the Selkirk market, which is run by Joy Sul, who also runs the Lockport market. Smadylla says Sul runs a good market.

“It’s been very good dealing with Joy, she helps set up the tents and takes them down. She runs a good show. The only thing I don’t like is the weather,” she laughed.

“But I guess we can’t do anything about that.”

D.O.G Days of Summer, which features food vendors and entertainment, runs every Wednesday in August at the Selkirk Waterfront from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The New Selkirk Waterfront Market, which in previous weeks featured more than 32 vendors is on its last week this Wednesday.
